KUCHING, Nov 1: Ba’kelalan has tremendous potential in the tourism sector, along with its unique cultural heritage, handicrafts, and local products, which is why development efforts must continue to ensure people can enjoy better facilities and opportunities.

According to the federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, he said this after attending the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Ba’kelalan Division Unity Dinner, where he met and spent time with the community on Saturday (Oct 31).

“I was informed that road conditions and infrastructure development in Ba’kelalan have improved compared to my visit in 2021. This progress is encouraging. However, development efforts must continue to ensure people can enjoy better facilities and opportunities.

“I hope we can work together to identify development opportunities, particularly in upgrading tourism facilities and empowering local handicraft products so they can gain wider recognition,” said the PDP president in a Facebook post today.

Tiong, who is also the MP for Bintulu and incumbent for Dudong, said that Ba’kelalan, despite its distance, remains close to the hearts of the PDP and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leadership.

“Let us remain united, strengthen our solidarity, and work together with PDP and the GPS government to champion development and a better future for all the people of Ba’kelalan,” he said. — DayakDaily
