Tauqeer Nasir Recalls Rejecting Saba Qamar in Early Audition: "She Wasn't as Exceptional"

Veteran Pakistani actor Tauqeer Nasir recently shared an intriguing revelation about once rejecting now-celebrated actress Saba Qamar during an audition. During an appearance on a television program, Nasir reflected on his career and discussed the early days of Saba Qamar’s journey.

Nasir admitted that while Saba Qamar is now one of Pakistan’s finest actresses, she did not always display the same level of commitment. He recalled an audition for a drama he was producing, where Saba’s performance fell short of his expectations. Nasir mentioned, “I gave her a set of four lines, which she hurriedly delivered without finesse. She even admitted she had to be somewhere else.”

Nasir’s decision to reject Saba was based on his need for seasoned actors at the time, which he believed Saba did not meet. His comments echo earlier sentiments by Pakistani playwright Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, who publicly stated he would never work with Saba Qamar due to her choice of attire, which he described as “vulgar” and against his cultural principles.

Despite their past reservations, both Nasir and Qamar acknowledged Saba Qamar’s undeniable talent and her rise to stardom in the Pakistani entertainment industry.
