RM11 billion investments last year: Chief Minister
Kota Kinabalu:
Sabah attracted RM11.34 billion in investments last year and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said this is proof that the Sabah economy is resilient amid the numerous challenges.
Sabah is now the seventh-highest state in Malaysia in terms of Gross Development Product, with 13.3pc of investments coming from the manufacturing sector.
“We have done well in terms of attracting both domestic and foreign investments across key sectors.
“These success stories demonstrate Sabah’s capability to attract global players in diverse industries, ranging from high-tech manufacturing to renewable energy-based products, highlighting the state’s growing reputation as an attractive investment destination,” he said at the Sabah Top Achievers (Sata) 2024 gala awards at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), Thursday. His speech was read by Deputy Chief Minister II and Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
The CM said the State Government’s focus on three foundational pillars under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya roadmap emphasises agriculture, industry and tourism; investing in people; and enhancing connectivity with a green approach.
He said these have set Sabah in the right direction to develop over a five-year period from 2021.

He said entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and innovators being honoured at Sata have played a key part in this success, driving the state’s progress and ensuring that Sabah remains a strong and key contributor to the national economy.
“I am certain events like this will elevate Sabah’s standing, both nationally and internationally, by celebrating talent and success stories from the state.
