Sarawak set to showcase beauty to millions as Under-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup goes live worldwide

KUCHING, Jan 20: Sarawak is set to shine on the global stage as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, hosted at the Borneo Cricket Ground, is broadcast live to 180 countries.

Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the tournament not only brings together young cricket talent but also offers a rare chance for Sarawak’s stunning landscapes and cultural richness to be seen by millions worldwide.

“This global audience will not only witness world-class cricket but also catch a glimpse of Sarawak’s unique charm and natural beauty.

“To all the viewers tuning in, we invite you to discover the wonders of Sarawak, the ‘Land of the Hornbills,’” he said in a speech read by Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu during the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup welcoming dinner at Grand Margherita Hotel here earlier tonight.

Abdul Karim, who is also the Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP), further highlighted that the tournament will be broadcast live to 180 countries on Star TV, as well as reaching millions of viewers through the ICC’s social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and its official website.

The ICC boasts over 43 million followers on Facebook, 32 million followers on Instagram, and a significant presence on Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube, contributing to a combined total of over 106 million followers across all its platforms.

Also present during the dinner were Deputy Minister for Tourism Dato Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew and Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation) Datu Hii Chang Kee. — DayakDaily
