KUCHING, Feb 21: First-time insurance buyers in Sarawak can now secure life insurance coverage for as low as RM25 in their first year, thanks to the i-MULA 50 Starter Pack Fund by the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM).
Deputy Premier of Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian announced that at least RM500,000 has been allocated specifically for Sarawakians under the RM5 million nationwide initiative, launched in conjunction with LIAM’s 50th anniversary.
The subsidy, amounting to RM50 per person, will help eligible Sarawakians purchase their first life insurance policy at a lower cost.
“For as little as RM25 per year, after the RM50 subsidy, you can obtain life insurance coverage for death, disabilities, medical expenses, and more. However, taking action is crucial, as it reflects your responsibility towards yourself and your family.
“I hope as many Sarawakians as possible will take advantage of this i-MULA 50 Starter Pack—jangan tengok saja (don’t just sit back and watch),” he said in a video uploaded on his Facebook page yesterday (Feb 20).
The offer is limited and will end on June 30, 2025, or when the funds are fully utilised.
The i-MULA 50 Starter Pack in Sarawak was first introduced during the Karnival Celik Kewangan Sarawak, held from November 15 to 17, 2024. The event aims to provide first-time insurance buyers with access to life insurance protection at subsidised premiums.
Annual premiums range from RM75 to RM600, with policyholders only required to contribute a minimum of RM25 annually to receive the subsidy.
