Leaked videos reveal Nothing Phone (3a)'s extra button is probably for AI [Video]

Following leaked images hitting the web last night, new leaked videos appear to reveal more about the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro’s feature set, including what the extra button is for.
Between teasers and leaks, we already know a lot about the Nothing Phone (3a) series, but a pair of videos published by @MysteryLupin on Twitter/X – both for Phone (3a) and Phone (3a Pro) – puts it all out on the table.
Not only do these videos offer a closer look at the design, but they also reveal some features of the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. This includes detailing the full camera array on both devices, confirmation that these devices are set to run on top of Nothing OS 3.0, based on Android 15, mention of Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 under the hood with a 25% processing boost, and “our biggest and brightest screen” – a 6.77-inch AMOLED with 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
The most interesting new detail here, though, is regarding the additional button found on the side of both Nothing Phone (3a) series devices.
This additional button was thought to be a camera shortcut, as the company had teased it for “your second memory.” That tagline is repeated here, but with additional context. The video suggests that this button is used for “Essential Space,” a new feature that takes screenshots when pressed and allows users to record a voice note with that screenshot. The video further says that “Essential Space organizes content and generates action points,” hinting that it’s almost certainly powered by AI.
The possible AI focus doesn’t come as a surprise, as Nothing has been building out some AI features (largely in collaboration with ChatGPT) over the past year, and the upcoming “Phone (3)” release is said to focus very heavily on AI.
We’ll see all regarding the Nothing Phone (3a) series on March 4, as the company has announced that date for a launch event of some sort.
