Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants has revealed its highly anticipated 51-100 list of 2025, including KL’s Dewakan and George Town’s Au Jardin.
Ahead of the live Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 awards ceremony in Seoul later this month, the organisation has revealed the extended 51-100 list for the year. Spanning 23 cities, the list—in its fifth edition—features 13 new restaurants as well as a handful of re-entries. The list was decided based on votes from the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a cohort of over 350 influential figures in the culinary world from food critics to restaurateurs. Ahead, you’ll find all the key highlights from the announcement as well as the full list of ranked restaurants.
THE MALAYSIAN DUOMost notably for us, two Malaysian restaurants have made the cut onto the prestigious list. Led by decorated chef Darren Teoh, Dewakan (No. 84) has without a doubt one of Kuala Lumpur’s leading restaurants. Its menu is a highly refined look at some of Malaysia’s most prized endemic ingredients, presented in ways only a chef of Teoh’s caliber can execute. A meal here will surely broaden your palate’s horizons.
Meanwhile, Au Jardin (No. 100) from George Town makes a long-awaited debut on the list. With chef Su Kim Hock—who also happens to be BURO’s Chef of the Year 2023—at the helm, one can expect nothing but technically meticulous, yet playful, dishes to come out of the kitchen. Located within Hin Bus Depot, the restaurant has also become a main character in the local dining scene with its seasonal modern European fare tinged with Malaysian influences.
LEADING CITIESNow, back to the rest of the continent. Singapore and Bangkok, both neighbours of ours, lead the pack alongside Hong Kong and Seoul, each with six restaurants on the rankings. The South Korean capital’s Born and Bred leads at No. 51, while new entry Soigné enters the list at an impressive No. 57. Korean fine dining destination Jungsik also makes a comeback on the list at No. 90. The other three Seoul-based restaurants are Solbam (No. 55), Alla Prima (No. 61), and KwonSookSoo (No. 62).
Singapore’s Born is the highest-ranked restaurant from the island city, sitting at No.54. It is followed by Thevar (No.70), Cloudstreet (No.74), Jaan by Kirk Westaway (No.77), Zén (No.79), and Summer Pavilion (No. 90).
Bangkok shows up on the list with Gaa (No. 65), Côte by Mauro Colagreco (No. 75), Blue by Alain Ducasse (No. 80), Wana Yook (No. 81), re-entrant Bo.Lan (No. 98), and Ms. Maria & Mr. Singh (No. 99). Over in Hong Kong, two of its six entries are debutants on the list: Testina (No. 60) and Feuille (No. 93) of Northern Milanese and fine French influence respectively. The other Hong Kong entries are Vea (No. 53), Xin Rong Ji (No. 56), Ta Vie (No. 64), and re-entrant 8 1/2 Otto E Mezzo Bombana (No. 94).
PROUD DEBUTANTSAs for the new entrants, Ru Yuan (No. 59) is Hangzhou’s sole representative, whereas La Bourriche 133 (No. 96) is one of two Shanghainese establishments on the list. The former is known for its reimagined Zhejiang cuisine, while the latter takes pride in its seafood-forward menu, curated with French, Basque, and Italian influences.
Bengaluru’s Farmlore makes its Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 51-100 debut at No. 68, simultaneously bagging the American Express One To Watch Award. Nestled within an actual working farm, the restaurant is lauded for its progressive farm-driven fare.
Also in India, is Naar (No. 66), an experimental restaurant driven by the vibrant food culture of the Himalayas. The 20-seater eatery is nestled within the foothills of Kausali, a small northern Indian hill town that also makes its debut as a destination on this Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 51-100 list. Following slightly behind is New Delhi’s Inja, which breaks onto the 51-100 list at No. 87 with its progressive Indian-Japanese cuisine.
Laotian capital, Vientiane, also marks its inaugural appearance as a destination on the rankings with chef Ponpailin ‘Noi’ Kaewduangdy’s Doi Ka Noi at No. 86. Coming in at No. 92, Ubud’s Locavore NXT has earned its spot with its menu that spotlights Balinese produce with a focus on hyper-locality, seasonality and sustainability.
Shining a spotlight on the bright Vietnamese cuisine is new entrant Gia of Hanoi, slotting in at No.97. Here, a 12-course menu takes the stage, changing every three months to cater to the seasons. Finally, Tokyo takes four spots on the list with esteemed sushi specialist Harutaka as its only new entrant, ranking at No. 76.
Before you view the full list, make sure to mark your calendars for 25 March 2025 as the main 1-50 list will be revealed at the live awards ceremony in Seoul.
