One killed, three hurt as two-vehicle crash overturns container truck on Jalan Bintulu-Miri

MIRI, April 3: A 36-year-old man was killed after being pinned under a container truck in a rollover crash along Jalan Bintulu-Miri near Ladang 3 today.

The accident, which occurred around 8.23am, also left three others injured—a 34-year-old truck driver and two passengers from a Perodua Aruz, including a 53-year-old Indonesian man.

Passersby assisted in rescuing the injured and rushed them to a nearby health clinic for treatment.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Batu Niah responded to the emergency and a team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found both vehicles, which had been travelling from Bintulu to Miri, had collided. The impact caused the truck to overturn onto its side, completely blocking the road.

With the assistance of a towing crane deployed from Miri, firefighters successfully extricated the trapped victim.

His remains were later handed over to the police for further action.

The operation concluded at 12.44pm after clearing debris and ensuring the safety of the site. — DayakDaily
