Artyzen Singapore Hotel Review: A Lush Vertical Oasis

Opened in November 2023, Artyzen Singapore is not exactly new in Singapore’s luxury hotel landscape. But its recent addition to Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ prestigious Legend Collection in December 2024—an exclusive group designated to distinguished properties representing the uppermost echelon of luxury—makes Artyzen Singapore a hotel worth visiting and experiencing.

“Since opening our doors just a year ago, our focus has been on creating a warm and authentic experience for every guest who steps through our doors. Whether they’re locals enjoying a staycation or international travellers looking to connect with Singapore’s unique charm, we want them to feel cherished, inspired, and at home,” said Jeff Crowe, General Manager of Artyzen Singapore.

From its exquisite accommodations and renowned dining to stellar personal service, Artyzen Singapore is where you should consider for your next trip down to the Lion City. Ahead, find out how we enjoyed our time at the hotel for a short but sweet weekend.

A WARM WELCOME

From the bustling Orchard Road shopping belt, we turned into a quiet road in the West Orchard neighbourhood that transported us from a busy urban landscape into a tranquil, leafy haven. We were soon greeted by a lush vertical oasis characterised by hanging planters with overflowing fauna, floating stacked villas, and a blend of warm materials that look striking amid Singapore’s concrete jungle.

Previously known as a sprawling tropical-garden mansion called Villa Marie, owned by the great-grandson of philanthropist Tan Tock Seng, who was also an avid botanist, Artyzen Singapore embraces its unique past by continuing its tropical garden narrative throughout the hotel.

Upon entering, more draping planters in bird cages and elegant archways welcomed us into the lofty lobby area. The check-in process was swift, and soon, we were on our way to our rooms—but not without the receptionist letting us in on the hotel’s courtesy car.

Artyzen Singapore guests can use this complimentary car service to get to nearby Orchard Road areas, whether that is the scenic Singapore Botanic Gardens, vibrant Tiong Bahru Market, or the famous Newton Food Centre (a convenient feature that we definitely took advantage of!).

TRADITIONAL YET MODERN ROOMS

Artyzen Singapore offers 142 spacious rooms and suites—all of which come with balconies that look out into the city’s tropical lushness. Conceptualised by Australian interior designer Nic Graham, it was important to capture Singapore’s cultural heritage in its design language, which is abundantly clear upon entering.

From the shophouse artwork created by Singaporean artist Terence Tan to Peranakan motifs and colourful tilework that extends into the spacious bathroom, there are many east-meets-west sensibilities littered throughout our Deluxe Balcony King that felt immediately cosy and familiar.

A standout feature is the lofty ceilings. It’s not often hotels have soaring four-meter ceilings to play with, and Artyzen Singapore utilised these by creating barrel-vaulted ceilings that give the rooms a sense of openness and spaciousness that feels both elevated and three-dimensional.

SUMPTUOUS DINING OPTIONS

We’ve had some incredible meals in the past, but our dinner at Quenino by Victor Long is one for the books. Helmed by acclaimed Hatted Chef Victor Liong from Melbourne, in collaboration with one of Singapore’s top female chefs, Sujatha Asokan, as Chef de Cuisine, Quenino is a must-visit for food aficionados for its playful and eclectic degustation-only menu.

During our stay, we were able to taste Chef Asokan’s Focus Menu, which takes inspiration from her Chinese and Indian heritage to create delicate and bold flavour-forward dishes that speak from the heart. Some of our standouts include Quenino Prelude, consisting of three seasonal amuse-bouche, Chef Asokan’s take on Fried Rice, and the Taro Ice Cream with Fermented Rice Wine, Roselle, and Sweet Potato.

For an idyllic nightcap, we made our way to the Roof Garden, a lively social space with breathtaking vistas of the vibrant neighbourhood below and the city skyline. For a stellar time, enjoy a tipple at the rooftop bar, where you can enjoy signature cocktails paired with delicious snacks.

Further, the rooftop floating pool, a 25-metre cantilevered infinity pool with a partial glass bottom and equipped with underwater speakers, is also a great way to unwind after a whole day of sightseeing and shopping.

Lastly, we enjoyed starting our day with a hearty breakfast at Cafe Quenino. While there is no breakfast buffet (a conscious decision made by the hotel to avoid food wastage), the a la carte menu offers plenty of appetising options. Guests are also served a free-flow of freshly baked bread, yoghurt and fruits.

Flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the landscaped garden, we enjoyed dishes such as the Chilli Crab Omelette Rice and Slow-Cooked Pork Belly Noodle Soup while basking in warm sunlight.

All in all, we greatly enjoyed our stay at Artyzen Singapore and look forward to our next visit. For those looking to experience the culture, colours, and flavours of Singapore in a central location without compromising on luxury sophistication, Artyzen Singapore should be your go-to choice.
