Graduation is undoubtedly the biggest day of any student’s life as it marks the completion of their studies after years of hard work.

As such, friends and family of the graduate would usually present them with gifts to make the occasion more memorable. But for this fresh graduate in Singapore, she got a rather unusual gift from her friends during her convocation.

In a TikTok clip shared by @tr1c14_, it showed the girl fighting to contain her laughter while holding her graduation “gifts” in both of her hands.

Turns out, her friends decided to make her graduation day special by gifting her with a bitter gourd and a whole roasted duck which was wrapped in oil paper.

All throughout the clip, the OP is doubling over in laughter while looking around in disbelief, as if to see whether anyone else got similar graduation gifts too.

Explained story behind unusual graduation gifts

The OP, who graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with a degree in Business Management, later shared with 8world News about how she got those gifts from three of her close friends.

“I originally thought they would give me a bitter gourd because they had previously asked me what my least favorite vegetable was.

“I didn’t expect them to give me a whole roasted duck! Maybe it’s because I really love eating roast duck,” she said.

The OP also revealed that she consumed the entire roast duck after returning home from her convocation.

Netizens tickled

The clip, which has since garnered 300,000 views at the time of writing, had netizens rolling in laughter over the OP getting a whole roasted duck while praising the gift’s practicality.

A netizen jokingly commented that the OP’s friends gave her the roasted duck after mishearing the word “rose” for “roast”.
