Three highways and 15 main roads around the Klang Valley will be closed and diverted in stages in conjunction with the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (58th AMM), scheduled from July 8 to 11.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director, Datuk Seri Yusri Hassan Basri, said that a dry run of the motorcycle cadet movement will be conducted from July 4 to 6. It will cover the route from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to hotels in Kuala Lumpur and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

“This drill involves a total of 392 traffic officers, consisting of senior officers and personnel,” he said.

According to him, road diversions on July 7 will begin at 7 am and will affect the KLIA Highway, Elite Highway, MEX Highway, Kuala Lumpur–Seremban Highway, Putrajaya Ring Road, Jalan Istana, Jalan Damansara, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Bukit Bintang, and Jalan Imbi.

On July 8, diversions will begin at 10 am and will affect intersections including Jalan Ampang/Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Sultan Ismail/Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Perak/Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Perak/Jalan Pinang, Jalan Stonor/Jalan Kia Peng, and Jalan Stonor/Persiaran KLCC.

On July 9, the same route closures will be implemented at two different times: 7 am (hotel to KLCC) and 4 pm (KLCC to hotel).

On July 10, diversions will occur at 7 am (hotel to KLCC), 5 pm (KLCC to hotel), 7 pm (hotel to KLCC), and 10 pm (KLCC to hotel).

On July 11, diversions at six routes and intersections will be implemented at 7 am for travel from hotels to KLCC.

Yusri advised road users to plan their journeys accordingly and encouraged the use of public transport as a sign of support for the event, according to an official statement from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

He added that commercial vehicles are advised to avoid entering the city centre during the diversion period, especially during peak hours, to prevent traffic congestion.
