Konami, eFootball renew partnership with Arsenal, long queues for Battlefield 6 Open Beta early access

We are well into the third quarter of 2025, and while the big names have made moves, overall news has been scarce.

With many publishers holding back announcements ahead of Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, gaming headlines have been dominated by a massive Beta Weekend for Battlefield fans, the post-Evo lull for the fighting game community, and notable announcements of upcoming titles from independent developers.

Short beats

As reported last week, the open beta for the military shooter juggernaut Battlefield 6 is well underway – from Aug 7 for early access and Aug 9-10 for the public. Interested? Access to the beta is free via Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

Launching on Oct 10, the game has seen a huge response, with reports of login queues reaching up to 300,000.

EVO 2025 results out: After three days of non-stop action in Nevada, champions of their respective fighting games have been crowned. Full results can be found here.

Ysbryd Games and Necrosoft Games’ upcoming school life strategy role-playing game Demonschool is coming outsooner than expected. After some delays, the RPG will finally be in players’ hands in early September.

Konami and eFootball have announced they are renewing their partnership with English Premier League runners-up and perennial chokers, Arsenal FC. Log into the game between now and Aug 13 to claim a Martin Odegaard player card and avatar set.

Still on football and ahead of the new season, EA FC has been busy sharing the latest features for its annual football release, including new game modes and revamped player evolution systems.

We were recently in Japan for an upcoming remake of a triple-A blockbuster. Stay tuned for early impressions – they’re surprisingly positive.
