U Mobile Device Care: Swap your phone anytime from RM4 per month

U Mobile has launched Device Care, a new monthly subscription service that allows customers to swap their phones anytime, starting from just RM4 per month. The service is offered in partnership with bolttech Device Protection Malaysia (bolttech), a device protection solutions company.

Device Care is available to U Postpaid and U Biz customers who purchase a device bundle through U PayLater or U SaveMore. Unlike typical device protection plans, Device Care lets customers swap their devices across colours, brands, and models within the same generation and recommended retail price. Users can swap regardless of the device’s condition, with our without damage.

The monthly subscription varies depending on the value of the device. The base monthly subscription free of RM4 per month is for smartphones priced up to RM500. For a typical flagship that costs over RM4,000, the monthly fee for Device Care is around RM20 to RM30.

According to the FAQ, U Mobile Device Care is only for new sign ups from August 2025. It is also stated that the orange telco is working on something for existing customers too.

Customers who wish to swap their device can submit their swap requests via the 24/7 Device Care Service Portal, managed by bolttech. However, this is only valid if the protected device is in your possession and it is not lost or stolen. Proof of damage is not required when you submit a request.

Once a swap request is made, U Mobile provides door-to-door pick-up and delivery, with service fulfilment as fast as six hours within the Klang Valley.

Each swapped device comes with a 12-month warranty, and customers are entitled to two service requests per year, subject to a bolttech service fee per request.

However, take note that a service fee will be applicable when you request for a zwap and it is paid directly to Bolttech. From the looks of it, the swap fees could be depended on the type of swap that you request. At the time of writing, we couldn’t find the service fee on their portal.

According to the Bolltech, customers can opt for Identical swap where you can get the same device with the same exact model and capacity, or opt for Like-for-Like swap where you can get the device from the same brand, model and capacity, but in a different colour. Meanwhile, the third option is Similar swap where you can change to a completely different brand or model, that’s within the same generation and price range.

It should be noted that each customer can only request up to 2 swaps within any continuous 12-month contract.

As part of its launch, customers who subscribe to Device Care within 30 days of their device bundle purchase will enjoy three months of free subscription fees.

Device Care is available for subscription at all U Mobile stores, through the MyUMobile App, and on the U Mobile Online Store.
