The earbuds market has become crowded, with every brand trying to outdo the other on sound quality, comfort, and extra features. That makes each new release a bit more interesting, because the upgrades aren’t just about music anymore. Apple’s latest entry, the AirPods Pro 3, leans into that trend with stronger noise cancellation, a new design for better fit, built-in fitness tracking, and even live translation.
Stronger Noise Control and Clearer Audio
Noise cancellation remains central to the AirPods Pro line. Apple says the third generation blocks out twice as much sound as the AirPods Pro 2, and four times more than the original model.
Audio has been reworked too. A new multiport acoustic architecture is designed to improve airflow and deliver a more expansive soundstage. The bass response has been tuned for more depth, while Adaptive EQ has been updated to sharpen vocals and high frequencies.
Transparency mode is now more natural, so outside voices sound less artificial, and spatial audio support aims to make music and films more immersive. Battery life has also stretched further — up to eight hours of playback with noise cancellation switched on, a 33% increase compared to the previous generation.
A New Fit and More Durability
Comfort and stability have been a focus this time. Apple says the earbuds are slightly smaller with a redesigned internal layout for better balance. New foam-infused ear tips come in five sizes — including an extra-extra small option — to accommodate more users.
The AirPods Pro 3 are also rated IP57 for resistance to dust, sweat, and water, which should make them better suited to workouts and everyday use in tougher conditions.
Built-In Fitness Tracking
One of the more significant changes is the addition of health features. A new optical heart rate sensor measures blood flow using infrared light pulsed 256 times per second. The readings feed directly into the Fitness app on iPhone, where users can track more than 50 workout types, monitor calories burned, and close their Move ring.
Apple has also introduced Workout Buddy, which uses on-device intelligence and workout history to provide real-time prompts and motivational feedback. For Apple Fitness+ subscribers, heart rate and calorie metrics can be displayed onscreen during workouts, alongside progress indicators like the Burn Bar.
Live Translation
AirPods Pro 3 introduce Live Translation, currently in beta. When paired with an iPhone, they can translate conversations in real time. If the other person isn’t wearing AirPods, the iPhone can be used as a horizontal display to show a live transcription in their preferred language.
At launch, the feature supports English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish, with Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese coming later this year.
Pricing and Availability
The AirPods Pro 3 will be available in Malaysia soon, priced from RM999. Full functionality requires pairing with an Apple device running the latest software.
