'Twelve' Ending Explained And Season 2 Theories

Twelve’s ending reveals that even though Taesan and his guardian are able to defeat Samin and his minions, the evil forces are still lurking in the shadows. [Spoiler Alert] In the closing shot, a dark force approaches Mirr, implying that she’s its next target. But where does this evil force come from, and what does it want from Mirr? And the biggest question of all: is Ogwi still alive? Well, the show’s finale doesn’t answer any of these questions; however, it does suggest that Twelve can return for a season 2. Honestly, I won’t have my hopes high because I believe the show has underperformed a bit, so a renewal seems tricky. But who knows? Also, I am here to talk about Twelve‘s ending and everything that we can expect in season 2, so let’s jump straight to it.

Ogwi Is Not Dead

In Twelve‘s finale, Ogwi, betrayed by Samin, switched sides to help the angel guardians save humans from evil. He took his sweet time to get healed from the wounds of the previous encounter with Samin, and as soon as he got his energy back, he attacked Samin to stop him from killing the love of his life, Mirr. However, Samin had not only claimed Haetae’s powers but also stolen Mirr’s Dragon Soul, making him the most powerful demon alive. In short, Ogwi was no match against him. However, Ogwi did sacrifice his life to save Taesan from Samin’s attack. At this point, it seemed like Samin actually killed Ogwi, but in the show’s ending, we found out that the red orb inside near his heart was still glowing, indicating that there was still life left in him. So, is Ogwi going to return for season 2? Definitely yes. And not just that, in season 2, Ogwi will help the angels to save Mirr from evil’s grasp.

Mirr Is Targeted By Evil

In Twelve’s ending, Mirr heard a crow’s cry near a restaurant, which made her believe that Ogwi might still be in some form or another. To clear her doubts, she visited the spot where Ogwi had been imprisoned by Marok, and that was the moment an evil spirit approached her. Now no one really has a definite answer to who this evil spirit is, but I have a few theories that might pique your interest. So firstly, this evil spirit could be the one that had possessed Samin in episode 7, and through him, it corrupted Ogwi, bringing him to the dark side. For some reason, I want to believe that it was Haetae’s spirit. I know Taesan had killed Haetae in the past, but one cannot really vanquish evil because it would disturb the natural balance. Light and darkness are meant to coexist, and it’s the duty of these angels to keep the darkness in check. Hence, it’s possible that when Taesan killed Samin in the final battle, he freed the evil spirit inside him that went on hunting for its next target. And who would be a better target than a person who has just lost her lover?

And if we are already speaking of Samin, then remember Marok asked Samin how he has managed to stay alive all this time. I believe it was this evil spirit that granted Samin some sort of immortality. Yes, he lied to Ogwi. Samin didn’t want to summon Haetae’s powers to become immortal. He wanted to become the most powerful demon so he could unleash hell on the human world and become the master of this dark realm.

A second possibility is that this evil spirit belongs to Ogwi. We know that his red orb is still throbbing, so maybe it was Ogwi who was trying to reach Mirr. Though I highly doubt this because of the way the scene was designed, it seemed that this evil spirit meant to harm Mirr and corrupt her soul so it could use her to open the Hellmouth once again and release evil to humanity. This brings me to a third possibility: that if this wasn’t Samin or Ogwi, then it could be a totally new evil spirit. But whoever this evil spirit belongs to, I think it was trapped inside Taesan’s dungeon, because in the show’s finale, we saw some dark forces leaving Taesan’s building, wrecking damage to everything that came in its way. Even Taesan, who was standing outside the building, sensed some forces fleeing the premises. Based on this information, I think it’s safe to bet that this spirit either belongs to Samin or Ogwi.

Mirr Can Go Against Her Family

The question that still bothers us is why Mirr? You see, Mirr has always been a bit distant from her angel family, because she feels they are the ones responsible for Ogwi’s miseries. Back in the day, Mirr and Ogwi wanted to spend their lives together, but other angels disapproved of their relationship, because of which Ogwi got obsessed with praying to God so he would someday grant him the powers and make him an angel. However, that day didn’t come, and in the end, Ogwi turned to evil to be as powerful as the angels. Only if Mirr’s family had accepted Ogwi, she wouldn’t have lost him to live and spent her life in separation. So, if Mirr turns to evil, then I think she will have enough reason to take revenge on her family. Also, if you may remember, throughout season 1, Mirr has been getting visions of her family getting thrashed at the spot where Ogwi was imprisoned. And we still don’t know what exactly happened to that vision, right? Now the place in her premonition is the same location where the evil spirit approached her, so it’s possible that this vision wasn’t about Ogwi but about Mirr herself. She’s the one who is going to attack her family to avenge Ogwi’s death, but hey, we know that Ogwi isn’t exactly dead, right? Additionally, we know that the evil spirit needs Mirr’s Dragon Soul to further their evil interests, so targeting Mirr isn’t a random choice. If evil has her in its grasp, then it can easily bring darkness into the human realm and make sure God’s light has no place in it. However, at the end of the day, whatever these conflicts are, we already know how they are going to be resolved. Ogwi will save Mirr, and the couple will eventually end up together to have their happily ever after.

Mirr and Ogwi’s union is destined

I hope you remember that during a clash between Taesan and Ogwi in the past, Taesan was about to kill Ogwi for hurting his family, but before he could do anything stupid, Marok stopped him. The immortal wizard told Taesan that God doesn’t want them to kill Ogwi. Instead condemn him to hell so he could pay for his sins. Marok used his powers to imprison Ogwi for all eternity, but Samin eventually freed him. Now, you have to understand God’s larger plan here. God knew that Ogwi wasn’t exactly a bad human, and sooner or later, he would see the darkness’ true face and repent for choosing their side. It was basically what happened in the show’s finale, when Ogwi helped the angels to defeat Samin. And I believe God has an even bigger plan for Ogwi because he’s going to be the one who’ll eventually save Mirr.

Taesan Will Open the Hellmouth Again

If Ogwi or a possessed Mirr is going to be the next antagonist of the show, then I think we all know that Taesan and his angels won’t stand a chance against any of these without their powers, which once again will force Taesan to smash that seal on the Hellmouth to free their powers so that they can either stop Ogwi or capture Mirr without hurting her so that they can free her from the clutches of the evil spirit.

The Taesan Siblings Are Back

One of the questions that Twelve’s ending refuses to explain is how Samin resurrected Hanu and Taesan’s three dead siblings, Master R, Yangmi, and Dalgi. However, if Samin did bring these 4 to life, then who’s stopping you from believing that he didn’t resurrect Haetae? Like I mentioned earlier, it’s possible that his soul was hiding somewhere in the dungeon, waiting for the right moment to strike back. Well, we’ll find out more in season 2. As for now, Taesan has a big happy family, and after a very long time, we finally see a smile on his face. He no longer hates humanity, and as a gesture of kindness, he even donated the money in his vault to an orphanage. This further suggests that even though Taesan is going to continue lending money to goons, he will make better use of the interest earned from it, and instead of hoarding the money, he will keep donating it for the betterment of humanity. Speaking of Wonseung, he finally figured that he wasn’t going to replace Taesan anytime soon or become the new chief of the guardians, so instead he decided to succeed Marok. He was quite close to Marok, and after he’s gone, he feels that the team will need someone in law enforcement to be in touch with the legal side of things. I guess, in season 2, we can expect him to don the role of a detective. Meanwhile, other members of the family are happy to be reunited with each other, enjoying tasty food, and some are still adjusting to the modern world.

So, with all that said, I think the second season of Twelve will continue Mirr and Ogwi’s love story with Taesan playing an important role. In the past, he looked down upon humans and, in his angel pride, refused to accept Mirr and Ogwi’s relationship, but now Taesan’s a better angel. He no longer hates humans like he used to and has developed a soft side for Ogwi, especially because the fallen angel sacrificed his life to save his, so Taesan has all the reasons to accept Ogwi into the family, but like they say, there’s no story without a conflict, so even though we know how things are going to end, there’s going to be a lot of drama in between. Well, these are just my thoughts on Twelve’s ending, but I would love to hear your opinions in the comments below.
