KUCHING, Oct 7: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan has called for the rejuvenation of the party to ensure it remains relevant, spirited, proactive, and courageous in engaging in decision-making concerning government policies and directions.
Snowdan, who is also Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, said the party must evolve with the times by giving space and opportunities to the younger generation and professionals to play a greater role in the party’s administration.
“The inclusion of young and professional members will create balance between senior and younger leaders within the party’s leadership structure,” he said in a statement today.
He emphasised that PRS needs to be bold and proactive in shaping policies that affect the people, especially as part of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), to ensure that the party continues to contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s progress.
Snowdan, who is also Balai Ringin assemblyman, stressed the importance of empowering youth in politics, saying that political rejuvenation must go hand in hand with balanced power distribution within the party.
“We must strengthen youth involvement in politics. Equitable power sharing is crucial to prevent decision-making from being concentrated in one place or among the same group,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the PRS divisions that nominated him for the deputy president post, pledging to continue promoting unity, inclusivity, and renewal within the party.
PRS will be holding its 6th Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) on Oct 18-19 in Kuching. — DayakDaily
