ICYMI, Ryan Murphy is back in business with his creepy, unsettling shows, and the latest one which just dropped on Netflix is Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
The story sets the stage for a famous serial killer and grave robber, who flays women and uses their skins and bones as costumes, furniture, kitchenware, etc.
A top trending show on the platform right now, here are some of the must-knows before you get into the nitty gritty.
1. It's majorly based on a true-life story
The show dives into the life of Ed Gein, the infamous Butcher of Plainfield, whose gruesome crimes inspired horror classics like Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs.
He has a twisted relationship with his mother, and settles into his grave-robbing habits, while also murdering two women, Bernice Worden and Mary Hogan.
2. It's gory and downright criminal
The show is dark, voyeuristic, and unsettling, with critics split on whether its exploitative or brilliant.
Monster recreates Gein's house of horrors in grim detail, including scenes of body-part decor and disturbing fantasies involving Nazi war criminal Ilse Koch, who allegedly inspired his use of human remains.
3. It's the third installment
This is the third installment in Ryan Murphy's true crime anthology series.
The first two were Dahmer--Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which told the story of Jeffrey Dahmer (acted by Evan Peters). The second was Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, that focused on the Menendez brothers who murdered their parents.
A great Halloween binge, tune in and let us know which you think was the best season yet!
