Clean Up Pan Borneo activist gains official JKR social media recognition

KUCHING (Dec 5): The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has appointed Tracey Hughes, founder of the Clean Up Pan Borneo (CUPB) movement, as their Social Media Strategic Partners.

The recognition was presented by JKR Sarawak chairman Datu Dr Cassidy Morris on Friday, highlighting CUPB’s contributions in strengthening information delivery, enhancing digital visibility, and promoting the department’s public image across social media platforms.

Expressing her gratitude, Tracey thanked JKR Sarawak for the official appointment and extended appreciation to the volunteers across the state who have supported the initiative since its inception.

“CUPB wouldn’t be what it is today without every Sarawakian who took part. Let’s Clean Up Pan Borneo and say no to ‘ceridak dooo’ (stop being unclean),” she said.

The movement began in early October, sparked by Tracey’s frustration over litter along the highway.

Her social media posts inspired others to take part, turning a simple act of picking up rubbish into a wider community movement.
