Netflix’s Free Bert Cast And Character Guide
2 天前
In Netflix’s latest six part comedy series, “Free Bert,” comedian Bert Kreischer plays a fictional version of himself, bringing all his signature adult humor and some more to the table. Led by Bert as himself, the series has a strong ensemble, where every actor has managed to impress, all thanks to their comedic chops and acting skill. In this article, we’re going to do a rundown of who’s playing what in the series.
Bert Kreischer as himselfBert Kreischer is a known name in the American comedy scene, with his USP being him taking his shirt off and performing as a partyer comedian. The man’s humor is raunchy and might not be suitable for kids, so it’s on you if you subject your child to it—I’m just saying! Bert has served as host in the FX series “Hurt Bert”; he has also been part of Travel Channel’s “Trip Flip” and “Bert the Conqueror.” He has a production company, named Berty Boy Productions, under which he runs the podcast, “Bertcast” and also a cooking show, titled “Something’s Burning”. He has worked with the comedian Tom Segura on the podcast “2 Bears, 1 Cave.”
In the show, Bert plays himself, and his character has a tough time trying to find acceptance amongst the parents of his daughter’s friends, as well as his family. The series focuses on Bert’s journey of rediscovering himself, and Bert the actor has done a brilliant job, I must say. It’s also not a surprise that you get to see the skill of Bert the comedian, in almost every single episode.
Arden Myrin as Lee AnnYou should remember Arden Myrin from the Netflix series, “Insatiable,” where she played Regina Sinclair. Myrin is also a comedian, like Bert, and she has the experience of working with the likes of Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. In “Free Bert,” Myrin plays Bert’s wife, Lee Ann. Her character is that of a supportive mother and a wife, who tries making things better for everyone, more specifically Bert and their two children, Georgia and Ila. Lee Ann, at one point in the show, kind of becomes a pushover, but by the end of it, she snaps out of it and even manages to help her husband find the right path. Myrin is so good in the role and complements Bert’s performance really well. They have a pretty crackling chemistry.
Ava Ryan as GeorgiaAva Ryan might be all of about fifteen, but you’ve seen her ruling the internet for almost a decade already. She has been posting all kinds of videos on social media that have gained widespread popularity over the years, and made her a successful internet personality at such a young age. Interestingly, Ryan’s character, Georgia, in “Free Bert,” is the exact opposite of what she is in real life. Georgia, who is Bert’s elder daughter, is a wallflower at her new school, at least at the beginning of the series. Ryan is pretty much on point playing the part, bringing both sass and warmth into it, and also having a solid chemistry with Kreischer and Myrin, her on screen parents. As the series progresses, Georgia does find her footing in the school, and effectively comes out of her shell. Ryan does a great job portraying the vulnerabilities of the character as Georgia navigates through her life.
Lilou Lang as IlaWell, you haven’t seen Lilou Lang in anything before, because “Free Bert” happens to be her debut. And if her first work is anything to go by, then I’ve gotta say that Lang is here to stay. She plays Bert’s younger daughter, Ila, in the show, who has a learning disability but also, perhaps the smartest person in the family. Bert may be the comedian, but it’s Ila who tickles your funny bones by being constantly sassy and with her sarcastic laugh-a-minute dialogue. I would say Lang has done a phenomenal job and is also my pick of the performers, considering how young she is; by no means is this an easy role to play. We definitely hope to see Lang find more roles in the future. And if “Free Bert” comes back for another season, which it should, then I wish Ila gets a little more focus and her own sub plot, rather than orbiting around the story arcs of her parents and her sister.
Supporting CharactersAlong with the main characters – the Kreischers – the show has a bunch of supporting characters who make the show what it is. The most famous name in the supporting cast has to be Chris Witaske, whom you should recognize from FX’s “The Bear,” where he plays Pete. Witaske plays Dr Landon Vanderthal, father of It girl Kiersten, who’s Georgia’s classmate. Landon literally has the world at his feet, and thinks he can do anything he wants to. Landon’s wife, Chanel is played by Mandell Maughan, who is known for her roles in “Resident Alien” and “Me, Myself and I”.
Actor Robert Melo plays therapist Doctor Jeff, who works for the school but helps Bert find his way as well. Young Braxton Alexander plays the part of Zac, who’s the most popular boy at school and Kiersten’s boyfriend. Zac later gets romantically involved with Georgia, where Bert has an important part to play. He also goes through one of the most traumatic experiences, physically, over the course of the series. Also, School Principal Miriam is played by Christine Horn and security Carl is played by Rashal James. David Ury plays a creepy gynecologist with a penchant for taking private photos of his patients.
