Neta V now available for only RM40k, but with a limited 6-month warranty

You can now purchase a Neta V in Malaysia for just RM39,999, according to an announcement on Neta Auto Malaysia’s Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as Careplus Mall’s Facebook page. With such a price tag, some might be allured at the prospect of owning an EV for less than a Proton Saga MC3 Executive, but please don’t rush into your decision.

There are some red flags that come with the listing

Frankly speaking, some details inside the listing look rather alarming. For one, the RM40k Neta V are unregistered “new” units from 2024.

Well, hopefully these units have been taken care of properly when they were in storage for the past 2 years. In addition to that, the warranty period is only 6 MONTHS or 15,000km, whichever comes first.

The listing said that the warranty covers the EV’s high-voltage battery and motor as well as “general parts”. It also claimed that if the unit has defects that Neta Malaysia is not able to rectify within the 6-month warranty period, customers will be refunded in full, which is quite a bold offer to make.

As a comparison, the Neta V originally comes with a 10-year / 200,000km warranty for its body and a 5-year / 150,000km warranty for general components. There is also a separate 8-year /180,000km warranty for high-voltage electrical components such as the battery and on-board AC charger.

Meanwhile, the listing also indicates that there are only two locations that can service the EV. One being in Seremban, which should be the Careplus Mall, while the other location is likely in Accentra Glenmarie – both have been discussed in our report last August.

Well, RM40k is quite low for a “new” EV in Malaysia, but with such a short warranty period? That does not look right.
