Four teenagers remanded over alleged fire-related bullying

JOHOR BAHRU – Four teenagers believed to be involved in a bullying incident along Jalan Mewah, Kampung Melayu Majidee here have been arrested to assist in investigations.
Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said all four were remanded for four days from Sunday until Wednesday.
He said the investigation papers would be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office in the near future.
“The case has been classified under Section 506 of the Penal Code, and the remand of the four suspects has been approved for four days.
“The investigation papers will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office for further instructions,” he said in a statement on Monday.
On Sunday, Raub, in a media statement, called on the victim and any witnesses with information related to the alleged bullying incident along Jalan Mewah, Kampung Melayu Majidee that had gone viral, to come forward and lodge a report.
Earlier, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording went viral, showing a young boy believed to be the victim of bullying.
The 23-second CCTV footage showed an incident believed to have occurred at about 12.39am, involving at least four teenagers suspected of committing the act against the victim.
In the footage, a reflection of firelight can be seen, believed to have been sprayed towards the victim, who was lying down with his hands appearing to be tied.
Shortly afterwards, three of the teenagers were seen approaching the victim and lifting him, while another individual is believed to have acted as a lookout during the incident.
