INNSiDE By Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit Launches The GALLERY

A new initiative in Bangkok is giving local artisans a global stage while supporting communities across Thailand. Located on the 32nd floor of INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit, The GALLERY is a social enterprise designed to showcase the work of talented Thai designers, artists and craftspeople while contributing to community development and cultural preservation.

Guided by the philosophy “Giving Art, Art of Giving”, the space functions as a curated marketplace where guests can discover handcrafted products ranging from silk textiles and accessories to ceramics, decorative pieces and children’s toys. The initiative aims to connect local artisans with a broader international audience while celebratingThailand’s rich artistic traditions.

For A Good Cause

All profits generated by The GALLERY go towards scholarships for art and design students, helping nurture the next generation of creative talent. The initiative also supports communities across Thailand — particularly the more than 300 artisan communities located near properties owned by Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), the integrated lifestyle real estate group behind the project.

According to the hotel’s general manager, Tarek Beheiry, the initiative represents far more than a retail concept. “It’s more than a curated marketplace; every purchase celebrates local craftsmanship and empowers communities,” he said. “The GALLERY is a space where creativity meets conscious impact, connecting our guests with Thailand’s art and culture while creating opportunities for local artisans.”

Several pieces featured in the collection are accompanied by “Meet the Artist” stories, offering insight into the inspiration and craftsmanship behind each item. Among them are intricate tuk-tuk souvenirs and magnets depicting the Grand Palace, created by DAWOOD Voyage Travel Souvenirs using sustainable wood.

Another example is Ruen Klin’s distinctive woven flower garlands, crafted from dried and treated water hyacinth. Once considered an invasive aquatic weed, the material is transformed into durable decorative pieces as well as eco-friendly baskets, mats and furniture — providing a sustainable alternative to plastic products.

The initiative forms part of AWC’s broader sustainability mission, “Building a Better Future”, and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8, which promotes inclusive economic growth, productive employment and decent work.

Beyond Bangkok, AWC has expanded The GALLERY concept to 18 additional hotels across Thailand, including properties such as Meliá Chiang Mai.

By bringing authentic Thai craftsmanship into a modern hospitality setting, The GALLERY offers travellers a meaningful way to support local communities while experiencing Thailand’s vibrant cultural heritage.
