UMW Toyota Motor records steady February performance in Malaysia

SHAH ALAM: UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) sold 4,856 vehicles in February 2026, bringing total year-to-date sales to 9,556 units.

The performance reflects continued demand across its core models, supported by a strengthened product line-up at the start of the year and Toyota’s nationwide dealer and aftersales network.

The sustained demand is underpinned by UMWT’s deliberate approach to portfolio expansion and operational consistency. Rather than relying on a single model cycle, the company entered 2026 with multiple refreshed and electrified offerings across key segments, ensuring that customers have access to updated choices supported by an established ownership ecosystem.

At the heart of this early-year momentum is the expansion of UMWT’s hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) portfolio across key segments. The Vios Hybrid and Vios HEV GR Sport mark an important step in extending hybrid technology into the B-segment sedan space, bringing electrified efficiency into one of the most widely accessible categories in the market.

This expansion continues into the C-segment SUV space through the facelifted Corolla Cross HEV GR Sport.

Electrification is further elevated within the premium segments. The Vellfire HEV brings hybrid refinement into the luxury MPV category, while the Harrier HEV strengthens Toyota’s D-segment SUV offering. Taken together, these four hybrid introductions demonstrate how UMWT’s Multi-Pathway strategy is being implemented across the portfolio, introducing electrification progressively across sedan, SUV, and MPV segments rather than concentrating it in a single tier of the market.

“In a market that is evolving rapidly, growth must be anchored on clarity of direction,” said UMW Toyota Motor president, Datuk K. Ravindran.

“Our multi-pathway approach ensures that customers are not confined to a single solution. By expanding hybrid options across sedan and SUV segments while continuing to strengthen our nationwide network, we are providing practical electrified choices supported by a reliable ownership ecosystem.

“Sustainable performance comes from aligning product strategy, network capability, and customer expectations in a disciplined and consistent manner,” he added.

Last month also marked the official opening of the Prima Pearl 4S Centre in Bayan Lepas, Penang, on Feb 9. The integrated facility combines sales, service, and body and paint operations under one roof.

Equipped with four display vehicles, two delivery bays, 10 general service bays, and 10 body and paint bays, the centre contributes to Toyota’s broader nationwide infrastructure aimed at ensuring accessibility and long-term service readiness.

Beyond vehicle deliveries, UMW Toyota continues to prioritise structured ownership support. The Toyota Service Savers programme enables routine maintenance from RM31 per month, while Toyota Extend provides extended warranty coverage for selected models nationwide. These initiatives complement Toyota’s expanding product portfolio by promoting cost transparency and long-term peace of mind throughout the ownership journey.

During the March promotional period, UMWT is offering financing packages across selected Toyota models, with deals valued at up to RM7,500 and monthly instalments starting from RM658. These structured packages provide customers with flexible entry points into ownership as they plan their purchases in the lead-up to the festive period.

“As Hari Raya approaches, many Malaysians will be preparing for journeys that mark the close of one chapter and the beginning of another,” said Ravindran.

“Moments like this often remind us how important reliability and care are in everyday life. When vehicles perform consistently and are properly supported, drivers can focus on what lies ahead with greater assurance.”
