Toyota Land Cruiser FJ launched in Thailand - approximately RM156k, 2.7L petrol, 6-speed AT
Nearly six months after its unveiling, the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ makes its official global launch in Thailand. The Kingdom will serve as the production hub for the baby Land Cruiser, which will be exported to 60 countries, though Japan is the only confirmed destination, for now.

Only one variant of the Land Cruiser FJ is available in Thailand, which is priced at THB 1,289,000 (~RM 156k). However, Toyota Motor Thailand is offering a special launch price of THB 1,269,000 (~RM 153k) until August. Price-wise, the Land Cruiser FJ slots between the Corolla Cross and Fortuner.

The Land Cruiser FJ is built on the same ladder frame chassis as the Hilux Champ. Under the hood lies a naturally aspirated 2.7-litre inline-four petrol unit that makes 166 PS and 245 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The drivetrain itself is a part-time 4WD set-up with a rear differential lock. With an overall length measuring 185 mm shorter and a 170 mm shorter wheelbase than the Fortuner, the Land Cruiser FJ is more agile on and off road.

The frame is reinforced with rear side rails and features additional weld points at the rear suspension mounts. Other enhancements to this entry Land Cruiser include an under-engine skid plate, a reinforced rear towing hitch, as well as reinforced cross-members and rear axle to support the 4WD system.

Suspension-wise, the baby Land Cruiser is fitted with a front independent double wishbone, while the rear uses a 4-link setup. The steering is hydraulic power-assisted.

For the boxy exterior, Toyota calls it a ‘Playful Dice’ concept with the all-new FJ sporting 3-piece modular front and rear bumpers, side body mouldings, a rear-mounted spare tyre, and a side-opening tailgate.

Inside, the baby Land Cruiser seats 5 passengers and features an 8-way powered driver’s seat, one-touch power windows for all doors, a 12.3-inch touchscreen audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 7-inch multi-information display with a clinometer that displays pitch and roll angles.

With the rear seats in place, the chunky off-roader has 765 litres of boot space, which is expandable to 1,522 litres. The rear seats have a 55:45 split with a 5-position fore-and-aft sliding adjustment along with up to 40 degrees of recline.

Seven airbags are equipped as standard, as well as a panoramic view monitor that features pitch/roll display and underfloor view. Active safety features include blind spot monitors and the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) ADAS suite, which includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive High-beam System (AHS).

Three exterior colours are available for the Land Cruiser FJ – Smoky Blue, Platinum White Pearl Mica, and Ash. There are various customisation options available, including a collaboration with ARB Thailand, which is known among off-roading enthusiasts.

Toyota Motor Thailand aims to sell 5,000 units domestically in its first year. The majority of Thailand’s FJ production output will be for the export market. Could the Land Cruiser FJ see a possibility at an upcoming official Malaysian launch?
