OnePlus reportedly ending retail efforts in India as global shutdown looms

OnePlus has confirmed that it is moving to an online-first focus in India, with retail efforts largely being shuttered amid a global shutdown expected on the horizon.
OnePlus confirmed in a media note this week that it will perform a “strategic pivot” to an online-first sales model in India, while also looking to expand after-sales service by leveraging Oppo’s existing infrastructure.
MoneyControlreports that OnePlus has “asked partner-run exclusive stores across India to shut down” by March 31. Three OnePlus-owned stores in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru are “likely” to remain operational. The upcoming Nord 6, though, would apparently be sold exclusively through Amazon in India. OnePlus hasn’t confirmed this news, but it lines up with the official statements.
This comes amid a rapidly deteriorating market for OnePlus, where the company has just lost its CEO in India, and while a global shutdown appears to be imminent. We reported earlier this week that OnePlus is shutting down in global markets soon, with the impacts potentially felt as soon as April 2026.
With India being one of the few major markets for OnePlus, shuttering retail efforts certainly isn’t providing much hope for the brand’s future.
