'Girl From Nowhere: The Reset' Ending Explained & Finale Recap: Will There Be A Season 2?

Girl From Nowhere The Reset’s ending is a reminder of why some things really do need to be left alone once they’re over and never be thought about again. The original show was a highly engaging metaphor for life and actually made us think about things. Meanwhile, Girl From Nowhere The Reset, is so determined to confuse us in its short runtime that it fails to even get us hooked to an overarching story about a boy who is actually able to find this girl and keep her interested in him. I thought the whole point of this show was to call out bullies and bring the bad to justice, but really, all it does is make you wonder what’s bad, and what is the point of anything at all. Still, I did want to give it a fair try, I thought a week extra for the finale, maybe it’ll suddenly pivot and give it something actually interesting, but instead, it leaves me scratching my head, wondering why I watched this show at all. I’m sure even fans feel the exact same way. But anyway, with that said, let’s jump straight into the show’s finale.

Spoiler Alert

What’s Paradorn’s Mistake?

Episode 6 starts with an election campaign in a high school by a dude named Paradorn. The guy seems to have a group of boys all working for him during this campaign, but nothing seems weird about it. In fact, this is the most normal-seeming guy amongst all the characters we’ve seen on the show so far. But I guess the truth is, the thing that this episode is asking us is whether being bad is nature or nurture. Only problem is, we don’t really see either factor affect Paradorn at all. Instead, we see Nanno drag the guy through the mud just to see if he’ll fold, and fold he does. The campaign is going well for Paradorn until the new girl, Nanno, decides to stand for elections and shows the school that it doesn’t matter if you have a good campaign or not, if you have a pretty face, you can win anything. I know this girl is pretty, but like, trying to use her appearance in every episode is certainly a low blow. Anyway, Nanno offers one kiss for one campaign idea, and all the boys line up to help. Even Paradorn, until he shows up to the front and doesn’t actually take the kiss, instead offering Nanno a partnership.

But still, Nanno doesn’t stop there, it appears as if she herself releases a sex tape of hers, which seems to spread because of one of Paradorn’s friends. Nanno uses this to her advantage, making it seem like the opposition deepfaked a sex video to look like it was hers. This is meant to trigger a sense of violence in Paradorn, because his friend did the wrong thing just for him to win. The guy in question claims he didn’t make the video, he simply shared it to ruin her reputation. However, this makes Paradorn mad. Paradorn manages to turn it all around after paying off a street vendor to look like he’s getting hit by a car. With some truly great acting chops, Paradorn saves him and everyone thinks he’s a superhero, hence winning him the election again. Or so we think. Ultimately, Paradorn ended up caving and only caring about winning, while being a hypocrite and showing the world that he was all righteous. But to make matters worse, his team ends up messing with the ballot boxes, which Nanno catches on video. When Paradorn finds out about it, he goes and beats up his pal, the same one from before, and then announces to the whole school that the election ballot boxes were messed with, thinking it’ll help his case, especially for the future.

Does Nanno Change The Future?

But, Nanno shows him the future through her congratulatory handshake. The future is bright for Paradorn, who becomes one of the school’s best students as he becomes a real minister when he’s older, but that’s when the video of the ballot boxes is played for everyone to see, ruining his life forever. Now, we’ve seen Paradorn get violent, and having seen this future for himself, he feels paranoid, making his mind go in the wrong direction. He deletes the video, but he wants to make sure that Nanno doesn’t have any copies. He calls all of his friends to work at what seems like the middle of the night, when he’s so itchy on his neck, he literally pulls out a nail from it. I guess this is in a way a representation of a “loose screw.” While Paradorn always had it, all Nanno had to do was trigger him to get it out of his system. Removing the nail from his neck is just a metaphorical representation of the fact that Paradorn is now going to go too far. He tells Nanno to delete the backup, but Nanno doesn’t need it, because she has a video of Paradorn paying off the vendor. This leaves him completely shocked, and he starts to choke Nanno death. Paradorn is meant to represent those who get lost in the dark forever, while on the other hand, Sky, who shows up out of the blue to save her, is someone who never lets the light in him go dark. But, I don’t get it, wasn’t Sky the guy who got bullied, and not the bully himself? Anyway, in a twisted turn of events, Paradorn stabs both people with the same nail (he probably found it somewhere?) before dumping them into a lake nearby alongside Nanno’s phone (after deleting the video, of course).

What Happens To Sky?

In episode 6’s ending, it becomes clear that Sky loses his life for Nanno’s sake, and she can’t do anything to save him. I really don’t know what to make of this narrative, like is the point that even Nanno has feelings, or is it that those who are good will always end up at the bottom? I really don’t know. On the other hand, Paradorn grows up to become a minister, just like her vision, but this time, Nanno returns with a vengeance and plays the video of him killing her through the projector. Paradorn faces worse in this new future than he did before, because he’s murdered people this time around. Yes, I know power has a corrupting influence, but the way this show plays out, nothing makes actual sense. Yes, if someone seems to be a delinquent, they need to get help early on. Yes, those who are too nice need to learn to protect themselves, but the way we see it in this show makes you start wondering, why the heck does any of this exist. Maybe Sky will come back as someone who works with Nanno, as a peer, a fellow lesson giver? He does seem to be dead, the only realistic thing about this episode, and Nanno’s actions also have consequences, so.

Will There Be A Season 2?

Based on what Nanno says at the end of the episode, it does seem like this show will return, and Nanno will come back, but hopefully with a much better script and some real good stories rather than the muck they tried to force upon us this season. To be honest, I don’t know how anything can improve that disastrous first season, but let us know what you thought of Girl From Nowhere The Reset.
