A FORM One student has died after being discovered unconscious at a school hostel in Paloh, with medical examinations later indicating that the teenager suffered sudden bleeding in the head and fluid accumulation in the lungs.
The incident has prompted an investigation by police, although authorities have stated that no evidence of criminal conduct has been found.
Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said officers received a report concerning the incident at approximately 8.53am after the boy’s father was informed that his 13-year-old son had been found unconscious at the secondary school hostel.
According to police, the student was immediately transported by school personnel to the Chiku 3 Health Clinic for emergency treatment.
“However, medical officers at the clinic confirmed that the victim had already died,” Sik said in a statement to reporters on Wednesday.
A post-mortem examination was subsequently conducted at Hospital Gua Musang at approximately 3.30pm on the same day.
Preliminary findings determined that the cause of death was spontaneous bleeding in the head together with fluid in the lungs.
“Further examination also found no criminal elements involved in this incident,” he said.
Police confirmed that the body had since been released to the family for funeral arrangements.
The case has been classified as a sudden death report, while further investigations remain ongoing.
Authorities also urged members of the public not to engage in speculation surrounding the incident out of respect for the victim’s family.
“The public is advised not to make any speculation that could affect the sensitivities of the victim’s family,” Sik added. - May 13, 2026
