Despite the consequences, some still choose to flaunt the law by persisting in wrongdoing or feigning ignorance when caught.
‘I didn’t know!’In a two-minute long video shared on Reddit, it showed a man confronting a woman who allegedly refuelled her Singapore-registered Mercedes with RON95.
To prove his point, he then pans the camera to the Mercedes’ front bumper, where it showed that it bore a Singapore-registered number plate.
The man then went on to claim in the clip that the woman had opened her car bonnet to prevent others from discovering that her car had a foreign-registered number plate.
He also turned his fury towards a female petrol station staff by chiding her for “playing dumb” to the woman’s actions.
Perhaps realising the gravity of her actions, the woman begins to plead with the man to not escalate the issue further and claimed she didn’t know that she wasn’t supposed to pump RON95 into her vehicle. However, when asked why she had opened her car bonnet, the woman was unable to give an answer.
She also apologised profusely to the man in hopes of being let off the hook, but all the man replied was: “It’s not me you should apologise to. It’s the law.”
According to the caption, the incident reportedly took place at a petrol station in Johor, though its exact location is unknown.
ReactionsNeedless to say, netizens were upset by the clip and wasted little time in slamming the “cheapskate” attitude of Singaporeans who often mocked Malaysia for not being a highly developed country as they were.
Some also praised the man for staying calm throughout the confrontation and urged him to hand the footage over to police.
