M'sian Man Gets Hit By Car While Putting On Raincoat At The Side Of The Road In Penang | WeirdKaya

The family of a local man who was killed in an accident is calling on those with dashcam footage to step forward and provide further information on how the tragedy transpired.

According to a Facebook post shared by the victim’s niece, the incident took place on Monday (June 1) at approximately 11am along Lebuh Bertam Perdana, Kepala Batas in Penang.

Was putting on raincoat

In the post, the niece wrote that her uncle, Goh Kay Soon, was on his way to work when a light drizzle began to fall.

He then parked his electric motorcycle at the side of the road to put on a raincoat before resuming his journey.

Goh’s niece pointed out that the spot her uncle stopped his electric motorcycle at was a “relatively safe” location.

Knocked down by car

As Goh was putting on his raincoat, a silver Toyota Altis driven by a 31-year-old man appeared and hit him with such force that both he and his electric motorcycle were flung into a nearby drain and grassy area.

Goh’s niece added that her uncle was also pinned underneath the car and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Calling for witnesses

According to Goh’s niece, the Toyota Altis driver claimed that his dashcam was damaged at the time of the accident and thus was unable to shed further light on what had actually happened.

However, the family is still struggling to come to terms with Goh’s passing, with his niece describing it as a “senseless” loss.

She also urged those who witnessed or have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and contact the family.

“We’re simply a grieving family who has lost a loved one and wishes to know the truth about what happened so that our uncle can receive the justice and closure he deserves,” she added.
