Snapseed 4.1 for Android rolling out with ‘massively expanded’ RAW support

Google is beginning to roll out the first big update to Snapseed since the May redesign with version 4.1 for Android.

Snapseed 4.1 introduces support for the “vast majority of RAW formats and cameras,” including DNG, ARW, RAF, NEF, CR3, ORF, and PEF.

This expanded format support involved “improving image processing” and “ironing out corner cases.”

Google does note that a “few formats aren’t quite there yet,” but wanted to get this update out now. Additionally: “RAW processing is tricky. Even with all our testing, a few bugs might pop up – so please let us know if you spot anything.”

This update also lets you undo and redo edits directly within tools instead of having to first exit to the main editor screen. Specifically, “most actions can now be undone or redone while editing within your favorite tools.”

Snapseed 4.1 for Android is rolling out gradually to ensure stability, while the iOS update is coming soon.

A series of patch updates since May have addressed various bugs and improved the Snapseed Camera feature set on Android.
