As discussions surrounding the proposed MADANI F1 ticket initiative continue, local host and content creator Zhiddin Aziz has voiced his opposition, arguing that the government should prioritise public infrastructure and community engagement instead of subsidising race tickets.

In his viral Threads post, Zhiddin said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should not entertain calls for discounted MADANI tickets for Formula 1, stressing that the event is generally attended by fans who are already prepared to spend on the experience.

He also pointed out that despite ticket prices often increasing due to scalpers, commonly known as ulat tiket, enthusiasts continue to purchase them, suggesting that demand for the sport remains strong.

One of Zhiddin’s biggest concerns is what he described as the long-term social impact of introducing MADANI F1 tickets. He questioned whether such initiatives could encourage Malaysians to become increasingly reliant on government assistance.

He added that Malaysians should learn to spend within their means

Rather than allocating public funds towards discounted F1 tickets, Zhiddin suggested the money be put to better use by upgrading roads around the Sepang area, particularly in Kota Warisan, which he believes would provide longer-term benefits for both residents and visitors.

He also proposed organising a large-scale Formula 1 Festival alongside the race weekend. His idea includes live race screenings on giant screens, car exhibitions, and collaborations with national automakers Proton and Perodua to create a more inclusive celebration that allows a wider segment of Malaysians to enjoy the excitement of Formula 1 without having to purchase grandstand tickets.

The proposed MADANI F1 Ticket initiative was introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a way to make Formula 1 more accessible to Malaysians should the race return to Sepang. While full details have yet to be announced, the proposal aims to offer subsidised or lower-priced tickets for locals, allowing more people to experience the event.
