Honor finally launches Robot Phone starting at around $1,500

The gimbal-touting AI-first Honor Robot Phone has finally made its debut, and it starts at around $1,500 – though you won’t be able to buy it in most of the world.

Available now in China, Honor’s Robot Phone gets its name from a robotic arm on the back that houses a 200MP camera with 4DoF stabilization.

Honor explains the arm saying:

The HONOR Robot Phone integrates an ultra-compact 4-DoF mechanical system featuring the HONOR Titanium Agile Gimbal. Developed through 60 manufacturing processes, the system integrates more than 100 precision components and is supported by more than 100 patents. Compared with mainstream gimbals, HONOR has reduced the overall system size by 65% while increasing structural strength by 200%.

Its 2.6g Titanium Gimbal Motor enables control speeds of up to 360° per second, while the HONOR Super steel Flip Motor delivers a torque density of 120 N·m/L. Together, these technologies enable fast, precise movement and stable positioning within a pocketable flagship design.

As far as actual utility goes, Honor’s website specifically calls out a few key use cases for the arm including:

The camera sensor has also benefits from Honor’s partnership with ARRI, which includes the LOGC3 recording format to open up additional options for post-production editing and color grading.

But we already knew a lot of that, so what else does Honor Robot Phone bring to the table?

A spec rundownreveals the rest of Robot Phone, which boils down to a flagship-tier Android phone by almost any measurement. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Honor’s own H1 imaging chip, a 6.31-inch FHD+ OLED display, up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, 200MP telephoto and 50MP ultrawide cameras alongside the main 200MP sensor in the gimbal arm, a 7,060 mAh battery, and Android 16 out of the box. It’s all wrapped up in a device that’s 9.59mm thick and weighs 248g, both likely to support the gimbal arm.

Honor is launching the Robot Phone starting at RMB 9,999 in China, and only in China. There are seemingly no plans to launch this device globally at this time. That price, though, translates to around $1,500 USD.
