PDRM Fines Young Riders, Then Brings Them For Prayers to Reflect on the Dangers of Reckless Riding

A group of young Malaysian motorcyclists were recently fined during a joint enforcement operation by the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), which was carried out to crack down on various traffic offences.

Some of the young riders who were stopped were also given a ‘special’ form of punishment as part of the operation.

Young Malaysian riders asked to pray as a form of repentance

During the operation, police inspected 778 motorcycles, issued 495 summonses, and seized 41 motorcycles that were either non-compliant with regulations or involved in traffic offences, as reported by Guang Ming Daily.

In addition to being fined, some of the young riders had their motorcycles seized. The riders were also taken to a prayer room, where they were led in prayer as a form of repentance.

The prayer session was reportedly aimed at encouraging the young riders to reflect on the dangers of reckless riding and become more aware of road safety.

Meanwhile, five men were arrested during the operation on suspicion of reckless and dangerous riding. They are being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 following the operation.

JSPT also urged young riders to avoid illegal street racing and dangerous riding, while reminding parents to keep a closer eye on their children’s motorcycle use.
