'Crew Girl' Full Recap (Episodes 1-8): Who Does Teagan End Up With? 

Teenage dramas are especially fun when a sport is involved, because of how exciting it can get. I’ve always enjoyed feeling engrossed in a sport that I know nothing about. It encourages me to try something new, and that, in my opinion, is the biggest compliment I can give a show like this one. Crew Girl tells the story of Teagan Tao (yes, I do really like that name too), who finds herself in deep water (or rather out of it) when her father runs away from the FBI because his company has been caught defrauding investors out of millions. Teagan and her loving mother are left with nothing, not even a home, so they decide to pack up and move out of the city of angels to a small town in Massachusetts. Teagan’s a rowing kid; her dad ran away as she was racing, leaving her without even the sport she’s absolutely obsessed with. However, her new school has a rowing team. The only problem is, it’s a boys’ team, and they won’t accept her on their squad. When she challenges them and succeeds at being an excellent coxswain for the team she chooses, she joins on as a coxswain. But it can’t be as easy as all that, so this is where the adventure begins. With that said, let’s jump into the recap of Crew Girl.

Why Do Teagan and Josh Hate Each Other?

As soon as Teagan arrives at Eagle’s Cove, she finds herself making not one but two rivals. One is Britney, the school Queen Bee, and the other is Josh, Britney’s boyfriend and heir to the airline that has sponsored the rowing team of the school. Now, Teagan only cares about rowing, and she can immediately see that Josh and Ryder are not as good as Cam, the scholarship student. She takes her place as the coxswain after setting the team up for a competition, 4 on 4. This sets her up as the big enemy for Josh. Josh is also proud, and his rivalry with Ryder comes from being part of the same family. They’re both heirs to the same company, so all they have to do is prove themselves to their stuck up grandfather who doesn’t care a hoot about the family at all, as long as the business is running. 

Josh is under the impression his father is the same, and to establish himself as the better heir, he plans a birthday party not catered to himself, but to impress his grandfather. Teagan’s mother happens to get the job of setting the party up for him. However, when Josh’s grandfather doesn’t stay at the hotel party, his dad fires her. Meanwhile, Teagan, who gets into a fight with Josh too, runs off to go rowing by herself. Josh follows her out, because he knows where she’s going and that it’s dangerous. Teagan falls into the water after hitting her head, and he saves her. This is when their connection is built. 

Now, Britney immediately notices something different between the two, and she wants to remain the most popular gal in school, so she tries to get Teagan to try out for another school team. Britney is the senator’s daughter. She can make anything happen if she wants it. Teagan surprisingly agrees to do the try-out. However, she feels guilty since she has started to enjoy coxswaining for them. Plus, they actually win thanks to her, so she decides to stay back, much to the disappointment of Britney. However, Britney still has the fall formal to focus on. It’s a very important day for her, and she wants it to be perfect. Of course, this is when Josh decides to break up with her because he can’t stand hiding his feelings anymore. Feelings for Teagan. That’s right. But by this time, Cam has already asked Teagan out. 

What Happens With Cam During The Fall Formal?

Cam and Teagan have perfect chemistry after he nearly hits her bike with his truck. However, he’s not really ready to get into love stuff because his dad is struggling to make ends meet. He’s always known he’s different from everyone at the school, but Teagan encourages him to be vulnerable with the gang, and this makes him upset, because it means he needs to show them how poor he is and how their money is sponsoring him. This gives him enough reason to tell her that he can’t do this right now. So, this allows space for Teagan to feel bad enough to get with Josh. Nah, Josh isn’t so bad, but they seem to like each other enough to keep it hidden for a while. 

Who Cut Josh’s Oar?

Now, the kids have to race their dads in an alumni race, and they lose miserably. However, what they’re really working for is the Haverford Cup. Josh has been clutching his chest every time he’s stressed, and things seem to be a bit off. That’s when we find out he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and he’s been taking drugs to counteract it as a temporary fix. Fortunately, this doesn’t affect him badly enough for something awful to happen. But to keep himself safe ish, in a race in between, Josh cuts his own oar to get them disqualified from the second round. At the same time, Baloo is dating a boy named Logan from their rival team, Westvale. Josh allows the team to believe Logan was the one who sabotaged their race. Baloo blocks Logan and doesn’t contact him until they see each other again. But that’s when he finds out from Logan that Josh cut his oar himself. 

When Baloo confronts Josh, he decides to drive away, but Teagan gets in his car too. He drives very fast and starts to grab at his chest, making Teagan realize what’s going on. But they do meet in a minor accident which nearly totals the car. Luckily for them, they’ve got a mechanic who can help. Anyway, Josh tells Teagan that he won’t race anymore after the Cup, and he just needs to prove to his dad and granddad that he can win. Teagan agrees reluctantly, and Cam doesn’t ask questions. He quietly does the repairs. 

Why Does Cam Take Money From Ryder? 

But at the same time, Teagan has sabotaged her own scouting possibilities after she messes with her erg because Cam lost on purpose on the same erg. All Teagan wants to do is give Cam a fair chance, but Cam’s taken 48000 dollars from Ryder to lose on purpose so that the scout will look at Ryder instead. Cam does this because his dad needs the money to keep his shop running. However, Teagan gets caught, and her punishment is to sit out of the Haverford Cup race. But when she tells the team about this, they say they won’t race without her, because the whole reason they’ve come this far is her. Matt is impressed by the team spirit and lets Teagan participate, even if it means that he gets fired for it. 

Does The Team Place at The Haverford Cup?

At the same time, Josh also decides to give Cam the chance he deserves to become the stroke. They place second, winning the silver medals and everyone is delighted. It’s a completely unexpected thing because they didn’t even expect to place. Josh and Ryder both seem to have found their middle ground as non-strokes, but their grandfather taunts them for it. That’s when Josh talks about how it’s his last race, and he’s not going to do it anymore because he has a heart condition. Instead of telling him he’s going to be alright and they’ll look after him, his grandfather simply tells him that would not be feasible for a CEO, thus making it clear that Ryder is next in line. But, instead of his dad thinking of him as defective, as he expected he would, Josh’s dad tells him that he’ll do everything in his power to make him better. And now he’s going to get surgery. 

Who Does Teagan End Up With? 

At the end of Crew Girl, Cam is finally able to breathe easy and tells Teagan how he feels about her again. But at the same time, Josh also tells her to give her another chance when he comes back as a new person after his surgery. This leaves us expecting the love triangle to continue into the next season. But, Teagan has something else on her hands, and it’s Britney, who is sponsoring the new girls rowing team.
