Samsung reportedly considers early 'Galaxy Z TriFold 2' release in wake of iPhone Duo

In the wake of iPhone Duo, Samsung is reportedly considering an early release for a Galaxy Z TriFold sequel.

The Galaxy Z TriFold delivered a wild new form factor to Samsung’s lineup late last year, but it didn’t stick around for long. The TriFold made its US debut in January for $2,900 and was discontinued barely three months later.

There have been rumors flying around a “Galaxy Z TriFold 2” coming in 2027 alongside another new form factor, a slideable, but it sounds like that might be moved up following Apple’s iPhone Duo reveal.

Leaker Lanzuk says that Samsung is “considering” an early “Galaxy Z TriFold 2” release, with the slideable also being moved up. An exact timeline is unclear, and it’s likely enough that the 2027 timeline will remain.

The post also claims that the TriFold sequel will be “thinner, lighter, and more durable” compared to the first generation, with a goal of having the price be “nearly identical.” While $2,899 is still no small price to pay, it’d be impressive if Samsung were able to keep pricing unchanged given the market forces at play, not to mention rumors that the first TriFold was sold at a loss.
