Brunei Sultan visits Tun M in IJN

SHAH ALAM - Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah paid a visit to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Sunday.

The visit was shared on Dr Mahathir's Facebook page, which said the Sultan of Brunei had visited the 101-year-old statesman.

"His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah graciously visited Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur on Oct 4, 2026," said the post on Monday.

Dr Mahathir was admitted to IJN on September 29 for observation, a day after his wife, Tun Dr Hasmah Mohd Ali, died at the same hospital aged 100.

Earlier, the former prime minister's son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, said his father needed some time to come to terms with the loss of his wife of 70 years.

He shared an update on his father's condition, noting that he is currently under observation at IJN, Kuala Lumpur.
