Lupin Season 4 Episode 7 Recap: Why Do Assane And Juliette Forgive Claire?

In Episode 7 of the fourth season of “Lupin,” Assane and Adele seem to be in a lighter mood, casually surveying the area around the castle where the treasure is being kept. Assane knows that the entire area is heavily guarded; armed guards are constantly monitoring the perimeter of the castle, and they don’t have much of a chance of infiltrating from the front. Adele also realizes that they are going to need a bigger distraction in order to steal the King’s Treasure from the castle, and for that to happen, they must plan accordingly. Inside the castle, Charmerace worries about Assane and Adele, as his henchmen fail to find any dead bodies in the river. He wants to find some trace of them, but honestly, he should be worried about the hologram projector that’s projecting a fake image of a crown in his safe. In the meantime, Raoul seems to be packing his bags to leave the town all of a sudden.

What Makes Raoul Leave For Dakar Alone?

Raoul has waited long enough for his father, Assane, to take him to Dakar. Despite knowing how badly Raoul wanted the trip, Assane still deceived him into thinking that he was not carrying a valid passport with him, when the correct one was locked away in a safe all along. When Raoul knocked Esteban out and got involved in a serious fight with the street level thugs, he wanted to tell Assane about it, but he wasn’t there. Although it was Charmerace who held Assane captive and threw his cell phone away, Raoul thinks his father was not there for him. Raoul has experienced this several times in the past, to the point that it has become a pattern. When he sees that Claire has chosen Ben over Assane, Raoul seems to realize that, at the end of the day, everyone prefers stability over broken promises. That’s why, even after knowing the dangers and the terror of the Guardians looming above Assane’s family, he still decides to put some distance between him and France and visit Dakar alone. Although Claire tries to talk him out of it, Raoul seems to have his mind made up, and it’s mostly Assane who is to blame for this situation.

Why Did Juliette Lie About The Treasure’s Location?

After Juliette caught Assane sneaking into Charmerace’s private chamber looking for the treasure, she knew that his life was in grave danger. As a Pellegrini, Juliette had the freedom to expose Assane and easily keep herself safe, but she didn’t because of her love for him. Assane knew that the then-Commissioner’s office had the King’s Treasure hidden somewhere under the floor. He even got close to it after the two of them faked getting arrested on a petty charge and almost discovered the hidden entrance to the catacomb. However, Juliette lied to Assane to prevent him from getting any closer to the chamber with the treasure in it, as it would have set off some serious alarms. Considering how unprepared Assane was back then, Juliette had to stop him from facing the Guardians at all costs. She took a calculated risk by lying about the treasure, because without her intervention, Assane would have been dead before he even opened the door to the treasure room.

What Does Assane Do To Fool Korvin?

Assane knows that Korvin is one of the minions hired by the Guardians to prevent anyone from breaking into the King’s Treasure vault at any cost. She is literally guarding the riches by being in her office, most of the time. To draw out Korvin, Assane spreads fake news about him being spotted near the castle with Adele; this immediately sends a shockwave throughout the city, and the cops are put on high alert. After Korvin storms out of her office with Georges, Assane infiltrates the building with Adele by posing as Forensic Team members, to keep the police from checking their identities. Once they are inside, Adele and Assane safely proceed towards the treasure room. Although Korvin reaches there with Georges, they fail to catch the two thieves; Adele escapes with a bullet wound, and Claire nurses her back to health with utmost care. Even after Korvin sends Georges and her cops to find Assane and Adele, Claire keeps them hidden inside a secret cabinet.

Why Do Assane And Juliette Forgive Claire?

Both Assane and Juliette have come a long way in life; the age they are at, there’s not much point holding onto grudges or bad feelings towards anyone, unless it’s their sworn enemies. For years, Assane had always wondered how Hubert came to know about Juliette’s teen pregnancy. Although Juliette didn’t get hung up on it, thinking that Hubert probably used his social influence, she also had some doubt in her mind. It turns out that Claire had been in love with Assane, and when she discovered his involvement with Juliette, she could not control herself. Claire caught Assane with Juliette and immediately broke into her home to leave her a warning message. When she found Hubert there, Claire could not help but reveal everything to the man, without knowing anything about his powers. However, both Assane and Juliette still forgive Claire, because Hubert would have found out about it, even if she did not tell him. 

Why Is Raoul In Danger?

Although Raoul comes back to Paris to meet with Assane, his troubles are far from over. It turns out that the night Adele robbed the museum, Raoul was there already, hiding, because he wanted Assane to be safe. During the pursuit, it was Raoul who pushed Sofia off the balcony as she was about to shoot the thief, thinking that it was Assane. Raoul was just trying to protect his father; he acted on impulse and did not think much about his own safety. Adele was so perfect in her disguise that even Raoul thought that she was indeed his father. Guedira and Sofia find Raoul’s shoe prints and trace it back to an illegal buyer from whom the boy bought his footwear. Since Raoul already has a criminal record from when he vandalized a book shop and accidentally punched a cop, he is in a complicated position. Unless Raoul escapes from France, Guedira will arrest him and put him behind the bars, making Korvin do whatever she wants.
