Smash and savour Fresca KL's new "Breakfast Together" menu

Between a hearty Mediterranean breakfast and a game of padel, there’s more reasons to wake up early on the weekends at Fresca.
If you’re looking for weekend plans, Fresca at City Padel has just the thing with a new weekend-exclusive breakfast menu, served with sides of sunshine, fresh air and, of course, padel.
From the team behind Palillos Yakitori Bar and Vermut Tapas Bar in KL, Fresca finds its home at City Padel KL, and it’s no surprise that they know their way around a good plate. Founders Simon Khoo and Loh Voon Hong took inspiration from the sun-soaked Mediterranean beaches, creating an oasis that is an escape from the noise of the city.
The name ‘Fresca,’ drawing from the word ‘alfresco,’ reflects the venue’s open-air space and the chef’s emphasis on fresh ingredients across both the kitchen and the bar. Simon hand-painted the “City Padel” sign in big, bold Aegean blue, a finishing touch and a nod to the sea. The pair thoughtfully designed a space where time seemed to stretch, and a quick coffee turned into an unhurried afternoon.
Now Serving Only On The WeekendsThe unveiling of a weekend-exclusive “Breakfast Together” menu is one more reason to linger a little longer. Their new breakfast plates are Fresca’s invitation to slow down for leisurely mornings, sparking conversations and sharing moments together in good company. Where their food promises authentic Spanish flavours, the standout factor is the commitment to good produce.
A must-try, in our books, is the A5 wagyu beef cecina with fried eggs and potatoes. Salt-cured Wagyu slices are punchy in bite on their own, but add the creaminess of eggs, and they become mouthfuls that intensify in flavour the longer you chew. Potatoes, like the ever-versatile carb that they are, set the stage for mouthfuls that are equal parts satiation and satisfaction.
Other equally stellar complements include the Grilled Broccolini, Poached Eggs and Feta padded up with romesco on homemade crystal bread. Baby broccoli is grilled until its edges are just the right amount of charred, and served on a bed of poached eggs and crumbly feta for a symphony of crunch and punch. Underneath is a Spanish-inspired romesco spread, which adds a smoky, nutty depth that ties the plate together. Little is more satisfying than a perfectly runny yolk, which golden goodness is synonymous with breakfast, lending a pop of colour to taste and sight.
Then there is the beef pistachio mortadella with truffle cream cheese sandwich, also served between homemade crystal bread. Pistachio lends extra nuttiness to the mortadella while truffle cream slathers on a grounding earthiness to this street food staple. The famed crystal bread of Spain makes for the perfect vessel to carry the rich combination of ham, pistachio and truffle cream with its thin, shatteringly crisp crust and its hyper-aerated centre.
Breaking every rule of breakfast was the dessert of a crème caramel flan cheesecake. This lovechild between the milkiest creme caramel and airy cheesecake made a very good case for dessert before noon.
The menu alone is reason enough to visit Fresca KL at City Padel, but if you’d like to build a bigger appetite before the feast, book a few rounds of padel or pickleball first!
