A mother recently experienced an infuriating ordeal when she was left stranded outside a crowded mall elevator for nearly half an hour due to a lack of consideration from able-bodied visitors.

Taking to Threads, user @thahirahsugarbabe shared a frustrating snapshot showing her twin stroller lined up outside a shopping mall elevator.

“Dear Malaysians, if you’re perfectly capable of taking the escalator, please walk a little further to find one. Some people actually need the lift.

“Sincerely, a mum with a double stroller who’s been waiting for 30 minutes while people with absolutely no mobility issues fill up the lift,” the user wrote.

Waiting 30 minutes while packed lifts left no room for a twin stroller

Speaking exclusively to WORLD OF BUZZ, the user detailed the exhausting experience of trying to get around.

She stated that nobody offered to make space or seemed particularly bothered that she was standing outside with a twin stroller and her 5-year-old daughter.

While elevators are open to everyone, watching lift after lift fill up with fully capable individuals, while people with mobility challenges are left behind, highlights a recurring gap in public etiquette.

Calls for better mall management and priority signage

To prevent similar headaches for other parents and vulnerable shoppers, the user suggested to WORLD OF BUZZ that commercial spaces take a more proactive stance on crowd management and accessibility by introducing clearer and more visible lift priority signage or designating specific priority lifts people with mobility challenges.
