KL Police Bring Young Riders Into Prayer Room To ‘Reflect’ After Driving Recklessly | WeirdKaya
Several young motorcyclists stopped during a traffic enforcement operation in Kuala Lumpur were given more than just the usual reminder about road safety.

Some of the riders were brought into a prayer room, where they joined a prayer session and were encouraged to reflect on the dangers of reckless riding.

The approach was carried out alongside a wider enforcement operation targeting motorcycle-related traffic offences.

Joint operation by KL and Gombak traffic police

According to an official post by Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police, the integrated operation was conducted on Sunday, Aug 16, by the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT KL) together with the Gombak District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD Gombak).

Police said the operation was aimed at tackling various traffic offences, particularly those involving motorcyclists.

A total of 778 motorcycles were inspected throughout the operation.

Following the checks, police issued 495 summonses for various offences.

Of these:

41 motorcycles seized

Police also seized 41 motorcycles for further action.

This included:

Police said motorists should avoid making vehicle modifications that do not comply with legal specifications.

5 men arrested for alleged reckless riding

The operation also led to the arrest of five men suspected of riding their motorcycles recklessly and endangering other road users.

The five were arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and taken to the police station for further investigation and action.

Police reminded riders not to engage in dangerous riding or illegal street racing, saying such behaviour could put both themselves and other road users at risk.

Young riders brought in to pray and reflect

Apart from enforcement action, some of the young riders stopped during the operation were also brought into a prayer room for a prayer and reflection session.

Led by an imam, the session was intended to encourage the riders to think about the consequences of reckless behaviour on the road and develop greater awareness of road safety.

Rather than relying solely on summonses and seizures, the initiative also served as a reminder to the young riders about the responsibility that comes with using the road.

Parents urged to monitor their children

Police also called on parents to keep a closer eye on their children’s activities and use of motorcycles.

According to PDRM, responsible and considerate behaviour on the road does not only protect the rider but can also save the lives of other road users.

Police added that enforcement operations will continue to be carried out to maintain road safety and public order.
